Our work /
Bending towards circularity
We worked with Birla Carbon to refresh its sustainability microsite, highlighting its commitment to a circular economy.
Bringing priorities into focus
The challenge
Since 2013, Flag has been supporting Birla Carbon’s annual sustainability reporting. In recent years, Birla Carbon has moved towards publicly announcing its commitment to contributing to a circular economy – with the need for a communications suite that matched.
Determining the right approach, step by step
The process
In 2017, we worked with Birla Carbon to develop a new video and storybook to highlight the importance of carbon black in everyday life. In 2019, we helped the company overhaul the design of its sustainability report microsite, creating an engaging and easy-to-follow user experience.
In 2020, we updated this microsite, showcasing Birla Carbon’s achievements through new case studies and refreshed imagery. While retaining the existing microsite design, we developed a new infographic to sit on the home page. This interactive graphic was created to help Birla Carbon tell the story of its journey to build a more circular business.
Flag also produced a PDF version of the site and a GRI index that addressed the requirements of that sustainability framework.
Pivoting to meet changing needs
The solution
In the midst of updating Birla Carbon’s microsite, the COVID-19 pandemic swept the world. It was important for Birla Carbon to ensure there was ongoing support for its employees, communities and customers. To tell the story of the company’s efforts, we promptly developed new content to be added throughout the site. Flag created a temporary landing page to collate all this new information in one place. We produced banners for each webpage to guide readers to the COVID-19 page.
