Looking back on a legacy

Flag has worked with the Duchy of Cornwall on their transition to integrated reporting since 2014, a long-standing relationship that has allowed us to be present during many historical moments. The 2023 Integrated Annual Report celebrated the achievements of the 24th Duke while embracing the handover to the new Duke of Cornwall through a subtle theme of evolution.

Reflecting transition

The challenge

2023 was a period of transition for the Duchy of Cornwall, and Flag worked closely with the Duchy to reflect this in their report. An evolution in storytelling, image and design showcased the impact of the organisation over the last 50 years while highlighting the progress made against its objectives.

Balancing tradition with adaptation

The solution

A subtle theme of evolution aligned the report to the transition to a new Duke. This was achieved through a carefully crafted narrative, an evolution of tone and design, and a restructure of content. Reflections and stories from the last 50 years were included throughout, while new aerial photography added to an impactful design. For the first time, the report included a foreword from the Duke of Cornwall, which reflected both the future ambitions of the Duchy and its enduring legacy.

About the Duchy of Cornwall

The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate established by Edward III in 1337 to provide independence to his son and heir, Prince Edward. A charter ruled that each future Duke of Cornwall would be the eldest surviving son of the Monarch and heir to the throne. The revenue from The Duke’s estate is used to fund the public, private and charitable activities of The Duke and his family. For more information, visit the Duchy of Cornwall website.
